Activists widely praised the Kuwaiti chess champion Bader Al-Hajri, after he withdrew from the "Sunway" International Chess Championship held in Spain, refusing to face an Israeli player.

Al-Hajri is one of the Kuwaiti chess champions, and he is participating in the international tournament competitions with his colleague in the national team Hashem Khaled.

Tweeters saw this step as an affirmation of Kuwait's position on the people and the Palestinian cause, and it represents Kuwaiti public opinion, and expresses its spirit and positions towards Palestine.

The writer and political analyst, Adnan Abu Amer, tweeted: "The Kuwaiti chess champion Bader Al-Hajri withdrew from the competitions of the Sunway International Chess Championship currently being held in Spain, after he was drawn against one of the Israeli occupation players."

He added, "Kuwait once again establishes the argument against all Arabs... O original Kuwaitis... your metal every time appears authentic and pure."

Activist Raed Abu Jarad wrote, "All respect to everyone who supports our people, supports their cause, and considers normalization a betrayal."

The writer Maher Al-Yousifi published, "Kuwaiti player Badr Al-Hajri, a Kuwaiti champion in chess, and a hero in pro-Palestine stances, Kuwait, the glory of the Arabs...and the medal of championship."

The past few months witnessed the withdrawal of a number of Kuwaiti players and scientists from international sports and cultural events, which brought them together with Israeli participants.
