Saleh Bey Abboud, the media official in the Algerian Football Association (FAF), explained the decision to announce the FIFA Disciplinary Committee regarding the match between Algeria and Cameroon in the African qualifiers for the 2022 World Cup.

"The penalty imposed came after the match observer's report, which referred to the throwing of projectiles during this match, which resulted in the penalty," Saleh Bey Abboud told APS.

He added, "The penalty revealed by FIFA on Monday on its official website does not concern the grievance file filed against referee Bacary Gassama, which remains within the jurisdiction of the arbitration committee headed by Italian Pierluigi Collina, and not within the competence of the Disciplinary Committee."

The International Federation's Disciplinary Committee imposed a fine of 3,000 Swiss francs ($3,000) for the use of fireworks in the stands in the match that witnessed a dramatic loss for the "Desert Warriors" team in the last moments 1-2, to lose the chance to qualify for the World Cup.

The Algerian Federation had submitted an official appeal to FIFA against what it described as "blatant arbitration", which "distorted" the result of the return match between Algeria and Cameroon, which was played last March at the "Martyr Mustafa Chaker" stadium.

The Federation confirmed at the time that it was determined to activate all legally permitted means to restore its rights, and to replay the match under conditions that guarantee the integrity and impartiality of arbitration.

And he demanded the opening of an investigation by FIFA bodies to shed light on the arbitration in the Cameroon match.

The match, in which the Cameroon national team qualified at the expense of Algeria for the World Cup Qatar 2022, witnessed some controversial arbitration cases, which prompted the Algerian Federation to demand the opening of the investigation.
