During the past season, national team skiers such as Ebba Andersson, Gustaf Berglund, and Oskar Svensson have guest starred in various long-distance running teams in Visma Ski Classics.

Now SVT Sport can reveal that a proposal is being discussed within the ski association, which will make it more difficult for national team skiers to participate in the long-distance race cup in any team.

- We feel compelled to take some form of position from us on how to behave in national team groups now.

- We will see what we bring, says national team manager Lars Öberg to SVT Sport.

Is it the case that you are trying to discourage national team skiers from running long distances?

- No, absolutely not, it's probably more that, if you are going to the World Cup, the World Cup or the Olympics, you have to focus on those competitions in order to be selected.

- But I do not see that we come into conflict in any way.

Cross-country manager: "Less attractive for us"

Magnar Dalen is team manager in the Norwegian Team Ragde Charge, with among others the Vasaloppet winner Andreas Nygaard in the team, believes that the view of national team skiers to long-distance running teams can be changed if the proposal goes through.

- Then it is not certain that we are interested in having those riders in our team.

- It will be less attractive for us to have them with us if they are going to wear the national team uniform, it is quite clear, he says to SVT Sport.

Can introduce Norwegian model

According to Lars Öberg, a dialogue is underway between the association and the Swedish long-distance running teams.

The issue is also on the table and according to the national team manager, a dialogue is conducted between the association and the national team's field representatives.

- Should the World Cup skiers start wanting to go long distance, we have looked a little at Norway, but we have not decided yet, but they have regulated it in their skier agreements.

- They can go long-distance running if it does not compete with the World Cup or so, however, they are bound to ride in the association's sponsor suit, and the sponsors that the Norwegian Ski Association has, says Öberg.
