Rikako Ikee, who broke the standard dispatch record at the Japan Championships and won the championship, was selected as the representative of Japan for the Asian Games to be held in China in September.

It is the first time in four years that Ikee has been represented in an individual event.

Following the results of the Japan Championships held in Yokohama until the 1st, the Japan Swimming Federation has announced additional Japanese national team members to participate in the Asian Championships in Hangzhou, China in September.

Of these, Ikee, who broke the standard dispatch record for the women's 100-meter freestyle and 50-meter butterfly in the Japan Championships and won the championship, was represented in the freestyle and butterfly.

Ikee participated in the Tokyo Olympics last year as a relay member, but she has been represented in an individual event and has participated in the international competition for the first time in four years since the 2018 Asian Games, which achieved six crowns.

Ikee said she said about the Asian Games after the day's race, "She doesn't really think about the future, but if she can swim, she wants to swim with all her might."

In addition, Shinri Shioura, the representative of the Tokyo Olympics, and Akira Ogata, a first-year university student, have been selected as additional representative members of the Asian Games.
