Jan Wall stepped into the Swedish Ski Association's auspices for the 2019-2020 season, then in the development team.

Before the past season, he replaced Per "Pliggen" Andersson as chief physician in the A national team.

But after only a year in the post, he steps down, SVT Sport can reveal.

- I have left my job as a national team doctor, writes Jan Wall in a text message SVT Sport.

"We have many challenges in elite sports"

The 56-year-old, who had a part-time job, is leaving because the workload is too great.

- I have stepped down due to too much work for too little compensation.

When I became medically responsible for the cross-country national team, I went down in my regular job from 100 percent to 50. Have worked every day since then.

Weekend as everyday, he writes and continues:

- It is unsustainable in the long run.

We have many challenges in elite sports in the future and if that job is to be done well, I have advocated a 100 percent service.

Reduced budget next year means that there is no space is the answer I received.

So no schism without the above reasons, Wall adds.
