Before the DFB Cup final, SC Freiburg bans the use of its logo on fan merchandise shared with opponent RB Leipzig.

This was confirmed by a spokesman for the association of the German Press Agency on Sunday.

The Bundesliga club did not give a reason.

In addition, the opponent was forbidden to use the club's coat of arms.

The final will take place on May 21 (8 p.m. in the FAZ live ticker for the DFB Cup, on ARD and on Sky) in the Berlin Olympic Stadium.

Participation is Freiburg's biggest success in the cup competition so far.

On the Instagram page of the Freiburg online magazine "Nordtribüne.org" for fans it says: "No common ground with the construct".

As early as March 2016, the Ultra group Corrillo expressed their displeasure with the Saxon club when they met Leipzig in the second Bundesliga.

RB Leipzig has been repeatedly criticized by opposing fans since its inception.

The Saxons are accused, among other things, that the club is only so successful thanks to the investments of the drinks billionaire Dietrich Mateschitz and ultimately only serves as a marketing tool.

Leipzig will not comment on the fan article dispute.

The Bundesliga club did not want to comment on the final opponent's decision on Monday when asked.

For the Saxon club, the sporting tasks are this week with the Bundesliga games important for the Champions League qualification on Monday (8.30 p.m. in the FAZ live ticker for the Bundesliga and on DAZN) at Borussia Mönchengladbach and on Sunday against FC Augsburg and the semi-final second leg in the Europa League at Glasgow Rangers on Thursday.
