Bulgarian Alexandrov wins Dubai Kite Surf Open

Bulgarian rider Alexandrov Shavdar, who lives in Dubai, was crowned the champion of the Hydrofoil race at the 2022 Dubai Open Kite Surf Championship, whose competition came to an end on Sunday after two hard days of competition in the beaches of Jumeirah.

Alexandrov successfully completed the task after collecting the highest average points from 8 stages held over two consecutive days, surpassing the South African rider Cliff Barsonos, who finished second, and the Italian rider Marco de Valbet (third).

The event, organized by the Dubai International Marine Club as part of the marine racing calendar in the 2021-2022 sports season, in cooperation with the Dubai Beach Boat Club (DUSC), achieved great success with the participation of more than 20 competitors from 12 countries: America, Australia, South Africa, Britain, Italy, France, Bulgaria, Austria and Germany. Portugal and Ukraine in addition to the UAE.

Mohammed Abdullah Hareb, Executive Director of the Dubai International Marine Club, member of the Board of Directors of the Emirates Sailing and Rowing Federation, accompanied by Mohammed Al Kamda, a member of the Board of Directors of the Dubai Beach Boat Club, honored the owners of the first three places and awarded them medals.

Mohammed Abdullah Hareb, CEO of the Dubai International Marine Club, praised the event and the active participation of fans of Kite Surf.

He said that the Dubai International Marine Sports Club is keen on diversifying events in the calendar of events and activities throughout the season, especially sports close to segments of society and are widely practiced in the emirate's beaches, including Kate Surf, and thanked the family of the Beach Boat Club (Dusk) for their cooperation and coordination for the success of the distinguished event.
