The USA started the match at a furious pace and made it 1-0 already after 2.24.

Strengthened by the goal, they poured further, created two really hot goal chances and if it had not been for Hugo Hävelid in the goal, Sweden could have had a real nightmare start to the World Cup final.

But then Småkronorna woke up to life and turned the match around just over a minute after goals from Oskar Pettersson and Noah Östlund.

After that, the team took turns scoring goals, but it was always Sweden that sat in the driver's seat, much thanks to the United States incurring some expulsions in the second period.

With 20 minutes left to play, Sweden led 4-3 after goals from Liam Öhgren and Östlund (again).

In other words, a thriller was to be expected and it did not get better for Swedish fans with weak nerves when Småkronorna began the third period by taking on two straight expulsions.

But Sweden managed to sort out the numerical disadvantages and with just over ten minutes left to play, Öhgren got a free position which he managed in the best way and 5-3 was a fact.

However, the United States did not give up and continued to scoop up the Swedish defense, which was the most offensive.

In the goal, Hävelid continued to play big, but with 3.11 left of regular time, it was reduced in game six to four.

The end was of course highly dramatic, but with 31 seconds left Jonathan Lekkerimäki was able to put 6-4 in the open box and the World Cup gold was ready.

Sweden's second in the U18 WC through the ages.
