In the midst of war, the Ukraine national football team plays again.

Ukraine's national football team is preparing for the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar playoffs and will play a friendly match against Borussia Monchengladbach of the German Bundesliga next month.

"The Ukraine national team and Monchengladbach have decided to play a friendly match at Borussia-Park in Monchengladbach, Germany on May 11," the Ukrainian Football Association and Monchengladbach club said in a statement.

The Monchengladbach club said that all proceeds from the game will be donated to the people of Ukraine.

Ukrainians can enter the match free of charge.

This match is the first actual match played by the Ukrainian national team after Russia invaded Ukraine at the end of February.

For the Ukraine national team, it is part of preparations for the European playoffs for the Qatar World Cup to be held in June.

The last match of the Ukraine national team was a 2-0 victory over Bosnia-Herzegovina in Qatar World Cup European qualifier last November.

Ukraine were due to play off Scotland last month, but the match was postponed to June 1 due to the Russian war.

The winner of the match between Ukraine and Scotland will face Wales on 5 June for a ticket to Qatar.

The Ukraine national team will train in Ljubljana, Slovenia from May 2, and will stay in Monchengladbach from May 10 to 12 to continue preparations for the World Cup playoffs at the club-provided accommodation and training ground.
