Liverpool took the lead in the English Premier League after defeating its host Newcastle with a clean goal today, Saturday, in the opening of the thirty-fifth stage of the competition.

Guinean Naby Keita scored the winning goal for Liverpool in the 19th minute to give his team three valuable points.

Liverpool's balance rose to 82 points to occupy first place, two points ahead of Manchester City, while Newcastle's balance froze at 43 points in ninth place.

And Manchester City can regain the lead through its match scheduled for today against its host Leeds United in the same stage.
