Australian Sam Kerr has scored 18 goals for league-leading Chelsea this season and this means that she wins the award for the first time in her career.

The 28-year-old tops the shooting league in the entire Super League and has also been important in the team's journey to the upcoming FA Cup final.

Mohamed Salah has won the award once before, in the 2017-2018 season.

He also leads the shooting league as he has scored 22 league goals for his Liverpool.

He still has the opportunity to win all four titles this season: Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup and League Cup.

"In addition to their efforts on the field, they are also leaders and flag bearers in their clubs," says Carrie Brown.

On the men's side, Thierry Henry has received the award the most times with his three.

This is the fifth time a winner has been chosen on the women's side and the only one who has two wins is Fran Kirby.
