It was 26 years since it last happened.

After a tough final series against Frölunda, Luleå won the Swedish Championship gold for the first and so far only time in the club's history.

In May, it may be time again.

After several successful seasons abroad, Linus Omark returned to Norrbotten with one goal in mind: To take home the Swedish Championship dent to Luleå.

- I have seen that picture in front of me all season.

That's why you work, go to the gym and workout and have the strength to recharge on the heavier days.

It's for that gold.

But I still try to focus here and now.

It starts on Saturday and we will win that match, says Omark.

Longing for gold

Luleå has been a top team for several years but has not been in the Swedish Championship final since 2013. That it is a city that longs for a gold is noticeable.

- It has been felt all year that you long for a gold.

It was 26 years ago last, the city and the whole association has longed for this gold for a long time and I really hope we can do it, says Omark.

The 35-year-old forward has been Luleå's offensive catalyst during the regular season and in the playoffs he has continued on the beaten path.

But Omark, he thinks he has even more to give.

- I have been around for a long time and I know what makes me play at the top.

I've had a good season but I'm not happy anywhere.

I feel like I have another gear and I hope to get it out in the end.

The plan all year has been to be the best now.

Huge praise

Luleå's general manager Stefan "Skuggan" Nilsson does not hold back with the words when he describes Omark.

- He has done enormous things in the association and is perhaps the best player we have had through the ages in Luleå Hockey.

I hope he can deliver in the final series and lift the dent, he says.
