The most profitable winter Olympics of all time, Björgen, retired from cross-country skiing and the traditional races after the Olympics in Pyeongchang 2018 but announced in May 2020 that she would make an investment in long distance running, which among other things gave a second place in the Vasaloppet last year.

But now Björgen is also giving up that investment after two seasons, something she has been thinking about for a couple of weeks.

- It will not be another year as a long-distance skier.

I'm quitting now.

It costs more than it gives, says 42-year-old Björgen who is the mother of two small children according to the Norwegian Adresseavisen.

Björgen will try to keep going at an exercise level, something she announced in a video that was shown at a coaching conference at Gardermoen Airport in Oslo in the afternoon.

His career yielded eight Olympic golds and 18 World Cup golds.
