The English third line of Biarritz Steffon Armitage, 36, will leave the Basque club at the end of the season to join Nice in the 3rd division, announced the player in an interview with the bi-weekly

on Thursday.

“This is where it all started, where I have all my childhood memories,” explained the former English international [five selections], who grew up in the south-east of France.

“Stade niçois remains my heart club”, he assures.

“At the end of the season in Biarritz, I said to myself: “Either I stop everything, or I start again on a new project to finish well””, he added, affirming that he wanted to “bring Nice back up” to Pro. D2.

Triple European champion with Toulon (2013, 2014, 2015), Armitage played 25 games this season in all competitions with Biarritz Olympique, which he had helped to raise back to the elite.

“I have always made sure to participate in the history of the clubs in which I have passed, he further declared.

In Toulon, in Biarritz, and today it's Nice's turn.
