Absent from the radar since last summer and the Wimbledon tournament, Roger Federer "confirmed his participation" in the Basel tournament at the end of October, according to a press release from the organizers published on Tuesday.

The Swiss had been forced to put his season on hold in July 2021 due to a right meniscus injury.

Operated a third time on the knee, the former world number 1 hoped to be on his feet for Wimbledon but his recovery took longer than expected.

Federer is 'can't wait to play at home again'

“Roger Federer (…) will be the headliner” of the tournament organized in his hometown from October 24 to 30, they write.

“After the Laver Cup in London (September 23-25), [he] added Basel to his diary and confirmed his participation in the management of the tournament.

"Can't wait to play at home again," commented the Swiss with twenty Grand Slam trophies on social networks.
