It was already clear before that Oliver Solberg would not drive in the main class in Portugal, this year's fourth World Cup competition.

Solberg shares the third car in the team with the Spaniard Dani Sordo, who stood by during the three initial races that Solberg drove.

In Portugal, it is Sordo who starts in the main class, WRC, something that has been clear for a long time.

Oliver Solberg already said last Saturday in an interview with SVT Sport that the goal after Croatia was to compete in the Rally2 class when Sordo drives the WRC car.

- I do not just want to sit at home and not drive.

At my age, you want to drive as much as you can, so you just have to work on and find a solution with the team.

It is important to be able to run those competitions and get as much experience as possible, Solberg said at the time.

Drive the Rally2 class

On Monday, the 20-year-old announced that it is clear that he is driving in the Rally2 class in Portugal.

- As you know, I will not drive the Rally1 car in Rally Portugal, so instead we will compete in a Hyundai Rally2, so that we can continue to build experience and get as many kilometers as possible to prepare for the future, Solberg writes in social media.

Portugal's World Cup rally runs 19-22 May and several of the distances are broadcast live on SVT.
