Minnesota scored and Nashville chased and caught up.

This is what most of tonight's NHL meeting looked like.

When the final whistle sounded, the score was 4-4.

The meeting was extended and with 1.3 seconds left to play, a Swedish 25-year-old stepped forward.

Joel Eriksson Ek, who earlier in the match scored two goals, had the puck in front of goal and was close to getting rid of it to Colton Sissons before he got a pass to Kulikov who at the last second - literally - could decide.

Filip Forsberg also had a good evening.

The Swedish 27-year-old, who showed super form in Nashville, scored one goal and two assists - his 40th goal in his career for "The Predators".

And thanks to the points after a draw during regular match time, the team is well placed for a wild card in the western conference.

At the time of writing, Nashville is in seventh place in the Western Conference table.

A total of 16 teams, eight from each conference, will compete in the Stanley Cup, which kicks off on 2 May.
