Pyramids bid farewell to the Confederation Cup in the last match of Egypt coach Galal

Egyptian Pyramids bid farewell to the Confederation of African Football Championship after losing 2-0 against its host TP Mazembe in the second leg of the quarter-finals today, Sunday, in coach Ihab Galal's last match before taking over the Egyptian national team.

Christian Kofi made up for a penalty miss after a quarter of an hour when he opened the scoring in the 33rd minute.

Gifty Kitambala added the second goal one minute before the break.

This is the last match for coach Jalal, who will move to coach the Egyptian national team, succeeding Portugal's Carlos Queiroz.

Jalal had agreed with the Egyptian Federation to postpone his assumption of responsibility until the end of his confrontation with TP Mazembe.

After a goalless draw in Cairo last week, the Egyptian team escaped a penalty after a quarter of an hour when Kofi hit the crossbar.

Kofi compensated for that and gave Mazembe the lead after a mistake from defender Ahmed Sami after a pass from his teammate Kabasu Chungu.

Kitambala consolidated the Congolese team's advantage from close range, one minute before the break, from a Phillips Kenzombe cross.

Ihab Galal, the coach of the Egyptian team Pyramids, launched a violent attack on the refereeing staff, who managed his club's match with its host, TP Mazembe.

Galal said in a press conference after the match, "The referee of the match helped Mazembe win because of his opposite decisions and overlooked many decisions and warnings, and in return he was widely publicizing the cards in the face of the Pyramids players and the technical staff, and all his decisions were in favor of the opponent."

Jalal added that the TP Mazembe players did not show a sportsmanship at all times of the match, and more than one player from the team was beaten and injured without the intervention of the referee.

The Pyramids coach explained, "Whoever plays football knows very well how the referee is directed in favor of a particular team, and all of Africa knows what the bad situation that all teams live in at the Mazembe Stadium, from pressure on referees, public pressure, a bad stadium and an atmosphere in which football that we know cannot be played." .

Jalal pointed out that Pyramids was completely far from its level in the first half, but returned and controlled the course of the game, and missed many chances that were enough to score.

"In the end, the referee helped the opponent win and qualify," he added.

Galal concluded his statements by saying, "The situation is bad in Lubumbashi and the Confederation of African Football (CAF) must intervene to end the suffering of the competitors in this stadium."
