The EHC Red Bull Munich can continue to dream of the fourth championship in the German Ice Hockey League.

Coach Don Jackson's team won the semi-final series 3-0 on Sunday with a 2-0 (2-0, 0-0, 0-0) win against the Wolfsburg Grizzlies and will be in the final on April 30th .

Opponents will then be either the Eisbären Berlin or the Adler Mannheim.

Mannheim reduced the series to 1: 2 with a 5: 3 (1: 1, 1: 0, 3: 2) in the capital.

“It will be an exciting final.

It doesn't matter who.

We will be prepared,” announced Munich striker Frank Mauer.

“You always want to have it again”

A double strike within 14 seconds decided the third game in Munich and made Munich's entry into the final perfect.

National players Yasin Ehliz and Austin Ortega scored for the hosts after just six minutes.

"Of course, the two early goals played into our hands," said veteran Mauer.

A strong goalkeeper Henrik Haukeland then prevented the Wolfsburg connection goal several times.

Most recently, the Munich team reached the DEL final in 2019, but ultimately failed at the Adler Mannheim.

Previously there was the title hat-trick between 2016 and 2018.

"You never lose the taste.

You want to have it again and again,” said Mauer.

Polar bears award match point

Berlin and Mannheim have each collected eight championship titles so far.

A decision as to which club will have a chance of winning the ninth championship was postponed due to Adler's first success in the series.

Three goals from Nigel Dawes (31st/51st/60th) and goals from Markus Hännikäinen (4th) and Nicolas Krämmer (47th) led to the away win.

"We played our best game in the series so far today," said Mannheim's Korbinian Holzer at Magentasport.

"We're going back to Mannheim now, with the fans behind us, and then we'll come back here again."

Frans Nielsen (7th), Blaine Byron (58th) and Johan Södergran (60th) were successful for the capital club.

“We knew that the setback would come at some point.

The day after tomorrow we continue,” said Marcel Noebels.

“Mannheim are a good team.

We're still 2-1 up and have the next match point."
