Turner by Charles Leclerc, Carlos Sainz out: Ferrari conceded the first bitter bankruptcy of the season at the home game in Imola.

While Leclerc spun ten laps before the end of the race and lost some of his lead over the victorious world champion Max Verstappen in sixth place, the Red Bull star proved with his start-finish victory that he was up to the pressure.

Sebastian Vettel also showed his driving skills in difficult conditions and, in eighth place, scored the first championship points of the season for himself and his ailing Aston Martin team.

Mick Schumacher im Haas, on the other hand, was once again unable to use a good starting position.

The son of record world champion Michael Schumacher, who was the last Ferrari winner in Imola in 2006, is still waiting for his first points after his 25th Grand Prix.

Schumacher was 17th, his teammate Kevin Magnussen once again took something countable with him in ninth.

However, Schumacher was in quite prominent company with his zero number: The seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton ended a completely messed-up weekend in the Mercedes in 13th place, his new teammate George Russell beat him in fourth in the third race in a row.

To make matters worse, Hamilton had to be lapped by his arch-rival Verstappen in the 41st of 63 laps.

His opponents on Sunday were called Gasly, Stroll or Albon.

Hamilton will have nothing to do with the World Cup this year.

Unlike Leclerc, who leads the rankings with 86 points after the fourth race of the season despite his mistake.

Verstappen is now second (59) after his 22nd Formula 1 victory.

The speed is right for the world champion, but his two defects in Bahrain and Australia hit the office.

Second at the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix was Verstappen's teammate Sergio Perez, third place went to McLaren driver Lando Norris.

In fact, everything was prepared in Imola for a Ferrari break: The Scuderia's most recent successes ensured that the grandstands were crowded and primarily bathed in red along the 4.909 km long traditional route.

"Mamma mia!

It's unbelievable," enthused Leclerc during the drivers' parade.

However, the approximately 100,000 fans had to be tough: on Friday it had rained for a long time and sometimes heavily, on Sunday the showers returned to Emilia-Romagna.

On a wet track at the Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari, Leclerc got away sluggishly, the Ferraristi hopeful dropped from second to fourth place.

It was even worse for his teammate Carlos Sainz, the Spaniard was cleared by McLaren driver Daniel Ricciardo in the first corner and retired.

Mick Schumacher started from tenth place and thus for the first time in his Formula 1 career from a point position.

However, the 23-year-old spun on the first lap and fell far behind – his race was over early.

Vettel, on the other hand, gained four places at the start and was able to fight for points in the wet.

Leclerc had a problem after his poor start and it was called Lando Norris.

The Brit kept the Monegasque behind him until the eighth lap, when the two Red Bulls pulled away.

Very little happened on the track, the dominant topic in the pit radio was the question of whether or when more rain is expected.

Tire choice at the next stop became the most discussed question.

After almost a third of the race, the switch to dry tires began.

Verstappen stayed ahead and controlled the race.

Leclerc worked in vain on Perez, who acted as a shield for his Dutch teammate.

Leclerc wanted the bonus point for the fastest race lap and second place - then he spun with serious consequences.
