The persistent lash of the rain forced the suspension of Saturday's session at the Conde de Godó.

This Sunday, from 11 in the morning (Teledeporte) the two semifinals, which could only start, will resume.

The organization decided that they would be played simultaneously, taking advantage of a truce in the heavens, starting at 7:15 p.m. this Saturday.

It was then that

Carlos Alcaraz

began his match in the central court, the

Rafael Nadal

court , against

Alex de Miñaur

, and

Pablo Carreño

did the same in the

Jan Kodes

, second in hierarchy, against

Diego Schwartzman

.

Both matches were tied at two games when the rain reappeared.

Given that it was already a late hour of the day and that it would take time to recondition the courts in case the water ceased, it was considered pertinent to concentrate the outcome of the tournament on Sunday, a day initially reserved for the final.

This will be held no earlier than 4:00 p.m.

Rain has been a constant in the tournament since the middle of the week.

On Thursday only

Stefanos Tsitsipas

and

Grigor Dimitrov

were able to complete their respective round of 32 matches, which had been postponed the day before.

The cancellation forced all the protagonists to redouble their efforts on Friday with the dispute of the round of 16 and the quarterfinals.

Pablo Carreño was on court for almost six hours, after beating

Lorenzo Sonego

first and lifting three match points in the quarters against Norwegian

Casper Ruud

, the second favourite.
