Inter advance to the top of the Italian League with a deserved victory over Roma

Inter Milan, the defending champion, advanced to the top of the Italian Football League, after its 3-1 victory over Roma on Saturday.

Inter took advantage that rivals and neighbor Milan will play with Lazio on Sunday, and grabbed the top by defeating Roma, who had not lost in 12 consecutive league matches before playing at the San Siro.

Winger Denzel Dumfries gave Inter a goal after half an hour from the start, then Marcelo Brozovic added the second goal with an individual effort five minutes before the break.

Argentine striker Lautaro Martinez scored the third goal for Inter after a corner kick in the 52nd minute.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan reduced the difference for Roma in the 85th minute, but the remaining time was not enough to complete the uprising.

With this, Inter achieved their fourth consecutive victory in the league, bringing their score to 72 points from 33 games, one point behind Milan, who fought the same number.

Roma remained fifth with 58 points.
