In 2020, Kim Nilsson was named the world's best floorball player for the second time in his career.

He has three World Cup golds on his merit list, has won the European Cup and become Swiss league champion.

But Saturday's Swedish Championship final will be "only" Nilsson's second in his career.

And the first in 13 years.

- I had the honor of winning gold with AIK 2009. Then I stepped in 19 years young, we had many profiles in the team that took good care of me, and I got to develop as a player.

Now, quite a few years later, I get the chance to win Swedish Championship gold again.

This time as a 34-year-old with the mother club.

It's a nice feeling, he says to SVT Sport.

What does it mean to play a Swedish Championship final with the mother club?

- A lot.

When I came home we were in the Allsvenskan and had visions and goals.

First and foremost, we would go to SSL, we succeeded, got a new arena, the audience got their eyes open for Kalmarsund.

Had you told me four years ago that we would play a Swedish Championship final this year, I would have thought it was a little good.

It's a cool trip we've made to stand here today.

"A mental roller coaster"

Had a gold with Kalmarsund meant more than what you took with AIK?

- There are so many different times in your career.

When I was 19 in AIK, I really had everything in front of me.

Now as a 34-year-old, when I have won most things and am at the end of my career, it feels a little more in my heart.

It would have meant a great deal.

How do you see the journey that Kalmarsund has made?

- It has been a mental roller coaster.

The first year I came home we failed in the qualifiers, year two we managed to win and since then it has gone straight up all the time.

The first year we just wanted to stay in the league and get routine in the young team we had then.

We have worked with the right things.

Did it go faster than you thought?

- A bit like that.

This indicates that we have done the right things, brought in the right players, the right coaches.

People who are really passionate and have the motivation to want to win titles and not just settle for playing in SSL.

We want much more.

"Patch on the door every match"

What does it mean for floorball in general with a new team in the final context?

- It is important that there are new, hungry clubs that want to take the sport forward.

Just look at how it has been in the playoffs, we have had a patch on the door in every match.

People travel by bus, train and plane to Stockholm to see us in the final.

We feel that we have the region with us and that we make an impression in Swedish floorball.

How does Falun suit you as an opponent?

- We have respect for Falun, which has been at the top for many years.

We won the last match against them in the regular season and played equally away from home so we know how to play to win.

We have to do it again.

SVT broadcasts Saturday's SM finals, ladies and men, starting at 12.00 in the first and Play.
