Liverpool's top scorer, Mohamed Salah, said that he does not know whether he can agree to sign a new contract with his team, and stressed that negotiations with the English club are not only about money, and that the fans know what he wants.

The Premier League top scorer is leading Liverpool in their quest to win 4 unprecedented titles this season, for the first time since joining the team in the summer of 2017 from Roma.

The Egyptian star has been negotiating with Liverpool for a while about extending his contract, although he has not yet reached a solution to resolve the negotiations with the expiration of his current contract next season, but he stressed that the current point of contention is not related to money.

Salah told Four Four Two magazine on his confidence to stay at Anfield for many years to come, "I don't know, there is one year left until the end of my contract. Absolutely, so I don't know and I can't tell you exactly what it is."

The 29-year-old confirmed that his desire has always been to stay in Liverpool, and explained, "Yes, this club means a lot to me, I enjoyed football here more than anywhere else, I gave everything for the club, and everyone watched it."

"I've had a lot of great moments here, I've won trophies and scored goals as well as individual titles, he's like my family," Salah added.

And the Egyptian captain insisted that he is not worried about starting the last year of his contract with Liverpool without finding a solution regarding his extension.

"I don't worry, I don't leave myself to worry about something, the season is not over yet, so let's finish it in the best possible way, this is the most important thing and then in the last year we will see what happens," he said.

And about what was reported about his departure from the club this summer in the event of not reaching an agreement to extend his contract, Salah confirmed that he fully expects that he will remain in Liverpool next season, regardless of the negotiations.

"Yes, I think so," he said, but added jokingly, "But if they want me to leave, that's something different." Liverpool have always made clear that they want Salah to stay.

Salah strengthened his top scorer list in the English Premier League with 22 goals, 5 goals behind South Korean striker Son Heung-min, Tottenham Hotspur, thanks to a double against Manchester United last Tuesday.
