- It's a little sad because cross-country skiing has been my life for so many years, says the Norwegian 31-year-old to VG.

Falla has been the main combatant with several Swedish sprint stars.

For many years it was a battle between Stina Nilsson and Falla and in recent years she has fought for the victories with Linn Svahn, Maja Dahlqvist and Jonna Sundling.

The first World Cup medal came in Holmenkollen in 2011, with a bronze in the team sprint with Astrid Uhrenholdt Jacobsen.

The 31-year-old has one Olympic gold and five World Cup golds, but it is not the gold she remembers best.

- The World Cup bronze in Val di Fiemme (2013) was my first individual medal.

It was a dream come true.

Many months later I could say to myself: I took bronze at the World Cup.

It was big.

So I took Olympic gold the following year.

I had made it.
