Arminia Bielefeld pulled the emergency brake in the fight against relegation from the Bundesliga and parted ways with coach Frank Kramer.

The East Westphalia announced this Wednesday.

"We want to give the team an impetus to stay in the Bundesliga," said sporting director Samir Arabi.

The previous goalkeeping coach Marco Kostmann will take over as successor with immediate effect.

He will be supported by the previous assistants Stefan Kleineheismann and Sebastian Hille.

In addition, a new co-trainer was hired in Michael Henke.

After seven games without a win, Bielefeld has fallen back to 17th relegation zone.

During that time they only scored one goal.

Arminia are guests on Saturday (3.30 p.m. in the FAZ live ticker for the Bundesliga and on Sky) at 1. FC Köln.

Kramer took over the team in March 2021 and led it to remain in the class.

"After many intensive discussions and a detailed analysis of the current situation, we are no longer convinced that we can do this again in the existing constellation," said Arabi.
