The FIFA Disciplinary Committee has formed a tripartite committee to discuss the complaint submitted by the Egyptian Football Association to request a replay of the match between Egypt and Senegal in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers.

According to Egyptian media, the work of the new committee began the day before yesterday, and the committee includes in its membership the officials of the FIFA Disciplinary Committee in their capacity as the investigators of the complaint submitted, a representative of the FIFA Competitions Committee, and a representative of the referees committee in it.

The Disciplinary Committee is expected to issue its final decision regarding the complaint submitted by Egypt, no later than next Thursday.

Gamal Allam, head of the Egyptian Football Association, said that he and his board of directors are confident that sanctions will be imposed on the Senegalese side by the Disciplinary Committee, especially since all violations are documented with pictures and videos.

It is the right of Egypt or Senegal to go to the Court of Sports (CAS) to appeal the decision of the FIFA Disciplinary Committee.

According to "Al-Masry Al-Youm" newspaper, the Egyptian file - which was submitted by the Football Association to demand the replay of the match - was based on 4 violations by the Senegalese side against the Egyptian mission:

  • The Senegalese fans obstructed the Egyptian delegation on the way to the stadium, which led to the team's inability to perform the warm-up exercises before the match, with a sufficient pause.

  • Attacking the Egyptian team players with bottles, especially Mohamed El-Shennawy, the team's goalkeeper.

  • Assaulting the media mission and destroying their cameras, as well as assaulting one of the journalists accompanying the mission.

  • The Senegalese side hired a group of professionals to use laser beams to influence the Egyptian team players while they were executing penalty kicks.

FIFA asked the observer of the match between Egypt and Senegal that took place in Dakar on the 29th of last month to submit the report prepared by the security forces accompanying the delegation of the Egyptian team, from the residence hotel to the match stadium and then back again to the residence.

According to the Egyptian Federation, it has provided FIFA with new videos documenting the moments of the attack by some Senegalese fans against Mohamed Salah, the captain of the national team, and the entire Egyptian delegation.

And some Egyptian press reports confirmed that if “FIFA” actually found that there were infringements on the Egyptian team’s mission while it was going to the match stadium, “FIFA” may decide to repeat the match again, while others say that the match will not be repeated and the result is proven and Senegal qualified for the World Cup. Qatar and the most that FIFA can do is impose sanctions on the Senegalese Football Association.
