Wydad with ten players defeats Belouizdad and approaches the semi-finals of the "African Champions"

The Moroccan Wydad team put forward in the semi-finals of the African Champions League, after it defeated its host, Chabab Belouizdad of Algeria 1-0, yesterday evening, in the first leg of the quarter-finals.

Wydad decided the match in his favour, with a single goal scored by Congolese striker Guy Mbenza in the 46th minute, to facilitate his task in the return match scheduled in Morocco next Sunday evening.

Wydad won the victory despite suffering from a numerical shortage in its ranks after Jalal Daoudi was sent off in the seventh minute.

The first leg of the quarter-finals began on Friday evening with a 0-0 draw between Algeria's ES Setif and Tunisia's Esperance, and then on Saturday night, Petro Atletico of Angola beat Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa 2-1 and Al Ahly of Egypt over Raja of Morocco 2/1.
