Speedway driver Antonio Lindbäck's sports career has been fraught with problems with the team.

Most recently in 2015, Lindbäck was sentenced to prison for drunk driving, and now he is once again charged with driving with a large amount of alcohol in his body.

Trial is pending, but no trial date has yet been set.

- What I have done is unforgivable.

I thought of everything possible when it happened.

Of course I think about what punishment I will receive, says Antonio Lindbäck to SVT Sport.

"Twelve-Step Addiction Program"

After he got stuck in January, Lindbäck made the decision to receive treatment and has been to a treatment home in Filipstad.

He says he wants to identify the problems and gain insight.

- It is a twelve-step program for addiction.

I try to get structure in life.

I want to understand what the problem is and get help from other people.

There is a long way to go to regain people's trust.

It will be a challenge.

He says that the time at the treatment home has been like a necessary journey.

- Above all, to teach myself to like myself.

Respect myself.

To make a difference between my athletic performance and the person Antonio.

No matter what happens at work, the person Antonio should be worthy of love.

Uncertain future

After drunk driving, his club Masarna broke the contract with Lindbäck.

But there is hope to be able to regain confidence.

- Unfortunately, I have not taken the help I have needed before.

I have put myself in that situation.

I deserve the criticism.

I must try to work back the trust of my supporters and those who like me.

What is it that says you will not end up in a situation like this again?

- The difference is that I have been to a treatment home.

That I have understood what is wrong with me.

I understand that I have had problems with alcohol.

Voting at Masarna

What Lindbäck's speedway future looks like is now uncertain, but the door to Masarna is not completely closed.

On Monday, the club will hold a board meeting where they will vote on Lindbäck's future.

- Either you lie down and die or you try to work your way back.

I do not want to lie down and die.

To one day be able to walk straight back in the city and maybe some day in the future help others with problems like this.
