Preventing Marseille fans from accompanying their team to Paris .. “The hostility is strong”

Marseille fans will not be able to travel to Paris to support their team at the top of the French Football League, Sunday, against leaders Paris Saint-Germain, according to the decision issued by the Ministry of the Interior.

The decision, published a day before the upcoming match, stated: “From midnight, individual or collective movement, by any means, is prohibited for any person claiming to support Olympique de Marseille or acting as such, between the municipalities of the Bouches-du-Rhone region on the one hand and Ile-de-France on the other hand. ".

This usual decision in the matches between Saint-Germain and its rivals Marseille was justified by the "strong hostility" between the fans of the two clubs.

The last match between them, in the presence of the fans of both teams, dates back to February 28, 2018, when "eight security personnel were injured," according to the decision.

Several incidents involving fans this season in the French League in Lyon, Nice, Marseille, Lens, Brest and Angers, prompted the Disciplinary Committee in the French League to punish those clubs.

The transfer of the Lens fans on Saturday in the North Derby against Lille was also prevented.

Saint-Germain leads the league standings by 12 points from Marseille, which puts it close to regaining the title.
