Ten of eleven players in the star eleven who defeated Denmark on Tuesday and qualified for the European Championships play everyday in the damallsvenskan.

That is one of the keys to success, believes national team captain Caroline Sjöblom.

- That they get continuous playing time at senior level is important, she says.

Still, she instructs her players to think away from the Damallsvenska style of play when the national team gathers.

Stability and control are replaced by speed and technology.

- In international football, everything is going much faster.

We play attack-oriented football, the ball must always move forward, she says.

An important experience

The European Championship finals will be decided in the Czech Republic starting after midsummer.

Sweden has qualified together with nations such as England, Spain, Germany and France.

Sjöblom believes that the experience of a major championship will be the most important thing for the players to take with them to the future rather than winning medals.

In 2012, Fridolina Rolfö, Amanda Ilestedt and Magdalena Eriksson were among those who played in the European Championship finals.

- I know that it has helped them a lot to end up where they are today, says Caroline Sjöblom.

A spice in the national team

Experience, courage and pace are what mainly separate the F19 players from the A national team.

Sjöblom thinks it is obvious that the younger players have both better technology and more speed than their older role models.

- The women's national team must watch out.

These players can come in as a spice in the national team in the future, she says.

Better-trained football players and clear role models and goals, the national team captain believes, is one of the reasons for the players' technical development.

One of the brightest stars is 17-year-old Rosengårds midfielder Bea Sprung, the youngest in the team.

Actually, she was called up to the F17 national team but chose European Championship qualifiers with the players who are two years older.

- It was lucky that she chose us.

She's absolutely good enough.

She both started and scored, says Caroline Sjöblom.
