- I had a changed ECG and an enlarged heart, a so-called sports heart, Bergendahl tells SVT Sport.

Every now and then there was a big risk that I would have to stop playing handball and start preparing for what I would do instead.

When the teammates in Alingsås in the summer of 2015 rushed on in their handball careers, Bergendahl had to take brisk walks after the diagnosis, all in order not to strain his heart.

- A very hard period in my life where I thought a lot about what is beyond handball in one's life and tried to see the positive in that it is just a sport and that there is much else in the world you can do, Oscar Bergendahl explains.

After a period of medical tests and checks, Oscar Bergendahl was eventually declared healthy and playing handball with Alingsås could be resumed.

- A lesson that you should not take anything for granted.

Ready for new club

With World Cup silver, European Championship gold and the award "European Championship's best defensive player", Oscar Bergendahl is now taking the step from playing in Denmark to the Bundesliga and TVB Stuttgart.

- A new journey, a fun journey.

I have been in Denmark now for a couple of seasons and felt it was time for a change of environment.

SVT broadcasts Sweden's match against Denmark on Easter Eve, 15.50-17.50 on SVT1 / Play.
