Both national team captain Peter Gerhardsson and assistant coach Magnus Wikman travel around Sweden to follow the Damallsvenskan on site.

Some matches on TV also catch up.

How closely do you follow damallsvenskan?

- As close as I can.

This is where we have players who already play in the national team but also players who can become current national team players.

It is important to keep track of who performs well, of course, says Peter Gerhardsson.

Fewer national team players in the damallsvenskan

Ten years ago, a majority of the players in the national team played in the Swedish league.

Today, they are only a handful with the damallsvensk club address in blue and yellow.

How does that affect the national team?

- I think it is good for the girls to have the opportunity to come to very large clubs and very good conditions to develop as players.

During the days with the national team, we do not develop players but pick out the best.

It is in the clubs that they develop.

That's why the environment is important to the players.

The better environment, the better players and the better for Sweden, says Peter Gerhardsson.
