A handful of days before finishing the French championship, which is due to end on May 21, 2022, an operation for a new collarbone fracture ended the season of OGC Nice defender Youcef Atal.
The Algerian international defender of the Nice club underwent surgery in the middle of the week, after a duel with Ignatius Ganago which ended badly, during the match against Lens last week.
Christophe Galtier, the Riviera coach, clarified that a "plate and screws were placed" on his player's fractured collarbone.
A weak collarbone
Youcef Atal, 25, had already suffered a similar injury during the 2019 African Cup of Nations won by his selection.
Last February, the Nice right side had been stopped by a new fracture to this right clavicle which required surgery.
Very important in the Nice game with his explosiveness, his dribbling and his generosity, he is often decisive when he is in good shape with 2 goals and 2 assists this season, in 13 league starts for 17 appearances.
It's a blow for the defender as well as for the Nice team, finalists of the Coupe de France already in bad shape in the final package.
