On Tuesday, the men's handball national team gathered in Malmö for recharging before the international match against arch-rival Denmark this Easter weekend.

It is the first time since the European Championship gold in January that Sweden's handball masters play at home.

Jim Gottfridsson notices that the gold has made an impression.

- It is fun and you notice that we have got many eyes on us in Sweden and it is good for Swedish handball, we will continue with that, he says.

- I went to the gym here last night and there you immediately notice many looks and many who come forward and want to take a photo.

The collection is the first without assistant league captain Martin Boquist who was not allowed to remain in his role.

For the national team, the focus is on the home World Cup next winter and the structure of the squad that won European Championship gold is intact with obvious exclamation marks such as Andreas Pallicka, Hampus Vanne and Gottfridsson.

Captain Gottfridsson, who was named the European Championship's most valuable player, was nominated for the title "the world's best handball player" but fell on the finish line against Danish Niklas Landin.

- Just being nominated shows that you are doing something good during your season which is ten to eleven months long.

It is clear that this is something you are very proud of, he says.

SVT broadcasts Sweden-Denmark in SVT1 // Play starting at 15.50 on Saturday.
