Four national team players, including Stina Blackstenius' transfer to Arsenal in January, have left BK Häcken for the English top league in the past year.

- Of course it is something you think about a lot.

Many close friends have disappeared from Sweden.

I have ambitions to play abroad in a better league, but feel no stress that I have to go now.

I thrive incredibly well in Häcken with the conditions we have, says Johanna Rytting Kaneryd.

The 25-year-old outer midfielder has a past in FC Rosengård and Djurgården before she joined BK Häcken at the end of 2020 (which was then called Göteborg FC).

In the past year, she has taken an increasingly obvious place in Peter Gerhardsson's national team squad, even though she was poked from the Olympics this summer.

"Want it to feel one hundred percent"

At the same time, his career has been fraught with protracted knee injuries, something that may have influenced the choice to stay in Sweden.

- I know what it is like not to be able to play that much and have missed large parts of my career due to injuries.

It has taught me not to be in too much of a hurry.

I want it to feel one hundred percent if I go abroad, that there is a plan and that they really want me there, says Rytting Kaneryd.

Not obvious to get playing time abroad

The rapid growth of women's football has led to tougher competition in club teams abroad.

A Swedish national team player who goes to a top team can no longer count on being a given starting player, something former Häcken player Filippa Angeldal has experienced in Manchester City.

Here at the national team gathering, there has been talk that several players do not have 90 minutes in their legs.

Could it actually have benefited you not to take the step abroad?

- Of course it has been in the mind that I play in Häcken, get a lot of confidence and feel that I am in good physical shape.

That's good for me right now.

Then everyone is different and feels good about different things.

Those who are out in Europe have an incredibly good training environment where they get the physical aspect as well.

But for my part, I am in good physical shape because I play a lot.
