Benzema saves Real Madrid and knocks Chelsea out of the Champions League after extra time

Karim Benzema scored a header in extra time to lead Real Madrid to a 5-4 victory over champions Chelsea in the Champions League quarter-final aggregate and qualify for the semi-finals, despite the Spanish giants losing 3-2 at home on Tuesday.

Real beat Chelsea 3-1 in London last week, thanks to Benzema's hat-trick, and the English club won by the same score today, bringing the two teams into extra time, and Benzema settled matters with a header in the 96th minute.

At the Santiago Bernabeu, Chelsea advanced 3-0 through Mason Mount, Antonio Rudiger and Timo Werner in the 15th, 51st and 75th minutes, respectively, before substitute Rodrigo reduced the difference for the hosts in the 80th minute.

Real Madrid will play in the semi-finals with the winner of Wednesday's confrontation between Atletico Madrid and Manchester City, after the England champions won with a clean goal at home last week.
