Chimaev started aggressively and quickly got Burns down on the mat, and towards the end of the first round, the Brazilian started bleeding after receiving several hard blows.

However, Burns would prove to be the Swede's most difficult task so far in his career.

The world number two received more blows than Chimaev previously received and when the match was over, Chimaev also had a jack in the face.

However, the victory was never threatened for the Swede who won by unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28).

- I knew he was strong initially, but I have worked so hard before this fight, I was ready, Chimaev said after the match.

-I am happy, I have longed for this for a long time.

With the victory, Chimaev's hunt for a title chance against Kamaru Usman from Nigeria, who has not lost a match in nine years, is getting closer.

- Ten matches and ten wins, I love this, said an exhausted but happy Chimaev afterwards.
