Sarah Sjöström was the big favorite when the 50 meter butterfly was to be decided at Eriksdalsbadet in Stockholm.

And she did not disappoint.

She swam to the finish line in the time of 25.05, 98 hundredths ahead of the Dane Emilie Backman.

Hoff broke Frölander's record

The time was a new world year best with 16 hundredths, and Sjöström's fastest race in the distance since the WC when she took gold in the time 25.02.

Sjöström was not the only Swede who impressed in today's competitions.

In the men's 50 butterfly, Oskar Hoff was second in the time of 23.55, which was a new Swedish record.

The previous record holder was Lars Frölander, who swam 23.56 in 2008.

In the 50 meter backstroke, Louise Hansson impressed, and set a personal record when she won in the time of 28.32.

Hansson got her big breakthrough last year, when she took three golds at the World Short Course Championships in Abu Dhabi, one of which (100 meters backstroke) individually.
