Choi Min-jung, the ace of the Korean short track team, passed the ISU World Championships in individual events in the first place in the preliminary rounds.



Choi Min-jung finished first in both the women's 500m and 1,000m qualifiers on the first day of the 2022 ISU Short Track World Championships held at the Maurice Richards Arena in Montreal, Canada.



In the 500 m, she had a time of 42 737 seconds and 1 minute 30 seconds 282 in the 1,000 m.



Choi Min-Jung In the quarterfinals of the 1,500 m held on the same day, she finished first in the group with 2:24.006, and she advanced to the next round in all individual events.



Choi Min-jung, who won her individual overall at this competition in 2018, is aiming for her return to the top in four years.



Hwi-Min Seo and Seok-Hee Shim also easily passed the preliminary rounds for all events.



Shim Seok-hee, who entered the first competition after the ban was lifted, showed unshakable performance, setting a record of 2:21.850, the fastest among competitors in the 1,500m quarterfinals.



In the men's division, while Lee Jun-seo and Kim Dong-wook passed the preliminary rounds for all events, Kwak Yoon-gi was disqualified after receiving a penalty for a false start in the first round of 500m.



Yoongi Kwak advanced to the 1,000m quarterfinals and 1,500m semifinals.
