After a largely used season, Borussia Mönchengladbach probably has nothing to do with relegation.

After a good start, coach Adi Hütter's team won 2-0 (2-0) at the designated second division team SpVgg Greuther Fürth and after ten points from the past four games has a solid cushion on the relegation place.

The success in Franconia was not endangered.

Marcus Thuram (19th) and Alessane Plea with a late penalty (24th/after video evidence) used the sometimes large gaps and coordination problems in the Fürth defense.

The cloverleaf defended itself, but did not get beyond good approaches.

The immediate relegation of the climber can only theoretically be prevented anyway.

Mönchengladbach was immediately well into the game with the Franks, who had recently been unpleasant at home.

Florian Neuhaus (2nd) and Thuram (6th) initially missed two great chances to take the lead.

When Fürth seemed to be finding himself, she succeeded: Thuram was penalized after a well-timed submission by Plea.

Plea transformed

A little later, to the surprise of the 13,900 spectators, referee Tobias Stieler (Obertshausen) gave a penalty – because of a scene three minutes earlier: Malik Tillmann had fouled Stefan Lainer in the penalty area (20').

Stieler allowed the ball to continue, but corrected himself after the intervention of Kölner Keller and his own viewing of the TV images on the sidelines.

Plea transformed.

Fürth was not discouraged and quickly had the chance to score the final goal through Sebastian Griesbeck (30'), whose header flew just wide of the goal.

Despite all efforts and good approaches in the second half, there was a lack of assertiveness in and in the penalty area as well as precision and callousness in the end.
