Salem Abdul Rahman earns "Sharjah International Chess" and 20 points in his international ranking

The great international master Salem Abdul Rahman won the title of the Sharjah International Speed ​​Chess Championship, which was organized by the Sharjah Cultural Chess Club under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, with the participation of more than 200 players, including 40 players with international titles.


The closing ceremony and honoring of the winners were witnessed by Sheikh Saud bin Abdulaziz Al Mualla, President of the Arab Chess Federation, President of the Sharjah Cultural Chess Club, Imran Abdullah Al Nuaimi, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors, and Vice President of the Uzbek Chess Federation Ihsan Turdaliev.


 Salem Abdel Rahman managed to win the title after collecting eight points out of nine rounds, winning in seven matches and drawing in only two matches.


The Emirati golden boy managed to climb the ladder in the last three decisive rounds, after a series of deserved victories over the Filipino international professor Oliver Demakeling, the veteran Azeri international professor Nadic Arkadic and the great Moldavian international professor Viorel Lordacescu, adding Salem 20 points to his international classification, while The former World Youth Champion and African Champion came in second place with the same balance of points, the great international master of Egypt Ahmed Adly, and the great international professor of Ukraine Adam Tukhayev came in third place with 8 points as well, and he and Adly are far away from the first place holder with a difference of tie-breaking points.


The organizing committee of the tournament had allocated special prizes for the national players, as the best player from the Emirates was awarded, a member of the Abu Dhabi Chess and Culture Club, the international professor Omran Al Hosani, and the international Hamad Badr Huwer won the award for the best player from the Sharjah Club. 


For his part, Omran Abdullah Al Nuaimi expressed his happiness with the organizational success achieved by the tournament, which resulted in Sharjah Club player Salem Abdul Rahman winning the first place, surpassing a large number of the best international masters coming from countries that have a great reputation in the world of chess.

Al-Nuaimi said in a press statement that "Salem Abdul Rahman has made many achievements throughout his career, and we are still waiting for a lot from him to advance towards the forefront of the world champions," stressing that "the Sharjah Cultural Chess Club harnesses all possible capabilities to prepare it at the highest level by organizing many camps. and international championships according to a well-studied academic plan.

He added, "The club always seeks to reach the global podiums through the plans and objectives set by the club's board of directors, in a way that contributes to the advancement of Emirati chess."
