Manchester United coach decides Ronaldo's participation against Everton

Manchester United interim coach Ralf Rangnick said today that striker Cristiano Ronaldo will return to face Everton in the Premier League after recovering from illness, but defender Luke Shaw will be out for up to three weeks.

Ronaldo, United's top scorer this season with 12 league goals, will return after missing a 1-1 draw with Leicester City at the weekend, while Shaw prepares for a long period of absence as he removes two metal plates from a previous broken leg in 2015.

"Cristiano is back again. Luke is still injured, we had to replace him at half-time (against Leicester)," Rangnick told reporters before Saturday's game. Tomorrow he will be out for two or three weeks.

He continued, "Edinson Cavani is still injured. Raphael Varane is injured and will be absent again tomorrow, and the same applies to Scott McTominay. He has problems with the sole of the foot."

Rangnick, whose team is seventh with 51 points from 30 games, said that the mental and physical strength of his players will play an important role against Everton, who are one point and one center ahead of the relegation zone.

"These factors will determine the outcome of the match. We realize the importance of the confrontation for both teams," he added.
