Former tennis star Becker found guilty of 'bankruptcy proceedings'

Former German tennis star Boris Becker was convicted today of four out of 24 charges brought against him in connection with declaring his bankruptcy in 2017. The court has decided to set the sentencing hearing for the current April 29.

Becker was accused of hiding assets worth millions of pounds, including the Wimbledon trophy, in order to avoid paying his debts.

Baker, who won six major championships in the Grand Slam, is prosecuted for several cases related to his personal bankruptcy related to obtaining a 3.5-value loan from a private bank.

Baker, 45, declared his personal bankruptcy in June 2017 in London before the start of Wimbledon, and was accused of not respecting his obligations to disclose information, especially banking, which he denied.

He is particularly accused of not awarding his creditors nine awards and medals from his stellar record during his professional career.

The former world number one Baker, who has lived in Britain since 2012, revealed during this trial, which began on March 21, that he still had "a lot" of awards and souvenirs collected during 15 years in the stadiums, but some of them had disappeared.
