From next season, all types of fluoride in biathlon and cross-country skiing will be banned at international level.

All skis will be tested before the start.

SVT's expert Björn Ferry thinks that the decision is completely right.

- It has been planned for a long time but it has not been possible to ensure that no one cheats.

When they now say that they have a test method that works, it's just honking and driving.

We are moving towards stricter environmental rules and it's just a matter of hanging on, he says.

What will it mean for skiing?

- Now it is hoped that this test method works so that no one comes and cheats on the day it is around zero degrees and snowfall.

This is when the fluoride walls have the greatest effect.

The manufacturer has developed alternatives that do not contain fluoride and says that they are equivalent or even better than the old ones in most units.

But we do not know if this is true or if it is just something you say.

The future will tell.

Are you worried about cheating?

- It has certainly happened during the past winter when it has been banned but there has been no way to test it.

Fortunately, it was cold and harsh at the Olympics so it probably had no effect if you cheated with the ramparts.

If it is around zero and fresh snow, it is probably a huge difference.

Hopefully the test method is good enough and has a deterrent effect so that no one chooses to cheat.

It must probably be a whole competition season and that you have to evaluate before you can say anything about it.
