The players of Venice sank Thursday evening in Bourges (74-38).

Falling from the Italians in the final of the Eurocup, the Berruyères gleaned the third C2 in its history after 1995 and 2016. It is even the sixth European title for Tango, after the domination in the Euroleague at the turn of the century (1997, 1998 and 2001) who built the club's continental record.

The Eurocup certainly has less prestige than the C1, but the victory won at home validated an almost perfect score, based on an iron defense.

The young interior of the France team Iliana Rupert (20 years old) signed a high level performance: shots at mid-distance, award-winning shots, hooks, assists, she made the Italian defense dizzy (25 points to 12/16 shooting, eight rebounds).

Rupert was therefore logically elected MVP of the match, under the eyes of the coach of the Bleues Jean-Aimé Toupane.

One downside: Duchet's injury

The only (big) downside to this dream evening: the injury to the knee of leader Alix Duchet, at the end of the first half, which "broke the heart" of coach Olivier Lafargue.

This European coronation is perhaps even a harbinger of a national title, since the Berruyères are at the top of the women's league (17 wins, two losses).

"We still have a lot of great things to do before the end of the season," said Rupert after the game.
