Secretary-General Alexander Jaremenko says that the Russian Volleyball Federation (VFV) in a report to the Sports Arbitration Court Cas has demanded the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) the multimillion-dollar amount, which it is believed would have benefited from hosting the World Cup.

- We are ready for the trial process, we have handed over the relevant documents, Jaremenko says to the Russian news agency Tass, according to the site Inside the Games.

- Now it is important to get legal support, but it is not easy due to problems to pay lawyers.

But we will solve it.

Would be held in ten Russian places

The Men's World Cup would have been held in ten places in Russia between August 26 and September 11.

The FIVB decided to deprive Russia of the arrangement due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Russia has never before hosted the World Cup in volleyball, however, the Soviet Union held the championship in 1952 and 1962.

Even before the war in Ukraine, Russia was close to losing the championship, due to sanctions regarding the doping revelations in the country.

VFV is one of many Russian sports federations that went to Cas after getting rid of competitions or being suspended from international participation.
