Nikita Kutjerovsatte then equalized for Tampa, before it was time for the match's giant to present itself.

Auston Matthews scored 2-1, basically stationary.

Tampa then equalized again, but Matthews then gave his Toronto the lead again when he steered the puck in from close range.

In the beginning of the third period, Matthews completed his hat trick through a wrist shot that found its way behind Tampa's goalkeeper Andrei Vasilevskiy.

Matthews has now scored four hat-tricks this season and has also scored 47 goals in the last 47 games.
