Netherlands coach Louis van Gaal said in a television interview on Sunday evening that he had been suffering from prostate cancer for some time, which he said would not stop him from going to the Qatar for the World Cup (November 21-December 18).

The players "don't know it", said Louis van Gaal, 70, on RTL television, adding that he had already undergone 25 irradiations, in particular in the evening during the training camps of the Dutch selection.

"It's part of my life," he added, invited on a television set on the occasion of the upcoming release of a film about his life, entitled Louis.

"I've been through so much in my life, sickness and death, I've probably become richer as a person because of all those experiences," he continued.

Van Gaal and the "ridiculous" choice of Qatar

If he should indeed hold his place for the World Cup next November, Louis Van Gaal will not go there with joy of heart (unlike our dear president Noël Le Graët, who said he was "very happy with play in Qatar").

The technician even sparked controversy last month by saying that the decision to organize the World Cup in Qatar was "ridiculous" and by accusing Fifa of having been motivated solely by "money and commercial interests".
