This Friday the lots will be drawn in the Qatari capital in the Doha Exhibition and Convention Center.

Start is at 18:00 CEST.

The world football association FIFA has announced a big show.

2000 invited guests should be there.

The draw will be broadcast in the live stream of the world football association FIFA, on ARD (from 5.55 p.m.) with moderator Esther Sedlaczek and expert Bastian Schweinsteiger and on MagentaTV (from 5.30 p.m.) with commentator Wolff Fuss, expert Michael Ballack and reporter Thomas Wagner on site .

Which teams have qualified for the 2022 World Cup?

So far, not all participants are known - a novelty in World Cup history at the time of the draw.

Currently, 29 of 32 teams have been determined.

Qualification has been delayed due to the corona pandemic and the war in Ukraine.

Two intercontinental play-off duels have not yet been played out.

A European participant is also missing because the Ukraine game in the play-offs could not take place due to the Russian war of aggression.

Safe to date are:

Europe (12 out of 13 places occupied):

Germany, Denmark, France, Belgium, Croatia, Spain, Serbia, Switzerland, England, the Netherlands, Portugal, Poland.

Africa (5 out of 5):

Ghana, Senegal, Tunisia, Morocco, Cameroon.

Asia/Australia (4 out of 4 or 5 plus host Qatar):

Qatar, Iran, South Korea, Japan, Saudi Arabia.

South America (4 of 4 or 5):

Brazil, Argentina, Ecuador, Uruguay.

North/Central America/Caribbean (3 of 3 or 4):

Canada, Mexico, USA.

Oceania (0 or 1):

none

When will the three open places be allocated?

Some of that is not yet clear.

The European semi-final between Scotland and Ukraine is scheduled for June.

Whether it will then be possible to hold the event remains uncertain due to the unforeseeable development of the war.

It is unimaginable that Ukraine is playing for a World Cup ticket while bombs are falling and people are dying at home.

FIFA will have to make a decision here at some point.

In a possible final, Ukraine would meet Wales, who beat Austria 2-1 in the semi-finals.

In the Asian qualifier, Australia and the United Arab Emirates will play a decider in Doha on June 7th.

The winner fights South America's Peru in the intercontinental play-offs for a World Cup ticket.

In addition, New Zealand, representing Oceania, meets the CONCACAF representative from Central America, Costa Rica.

These games will take place in Qatar on June 13th and 14th.

Who is in which pot in the draw?

There are four draw pots of eight teams each.

Hosts Qatar are seeded in Pot 1, along with the seven qualified teams that are highest in Thursday's world rankings.

Accordingly, the classification of the other pots follows solely according to this ranking.

The three undetermined nations come as placeholders in pot 4. Germany is in twelfth place in the ranking and is therefore in pot 2. The overall picture is as follows:
